Oklahoma Hogstead Farm, LLC is a Registered IPPR Breeder of Idaho Pasture Pigs. We offer quality pigs that meet IPPR standards for registration. Feeders are also available.
The Idaho Pasture Pig is a modern breed developed by crossing Old Berkshire, Duroc, and Kune Kune pigs. Bred with small, sustainable farms in mind, IPPs are true grazers with short snouts that minimize rooting damage. They are excellent foragers and thrive on good grass and acorns.
We've found the breed to be friendly, calm, and easy to handle. They bridge the gap between the small Kune Kune pigs and giant Durocs, usually reaching a butcher weight of about 230-250 pounds at 10-12 months. They produce flavorful, well-marbled pork with a taste that's so far beyond grocery store pork it's hard to believe. The IPP is the ideal pig for homesteaders seeking hardy, gentle animals that efficiently convert forage into delicious meat.

We've built our breeding herd knowing that temperament matters and that function always follows form. The goal is to have pigs that are easy to handle, easy on fences, and easy on the eyes!
The breed standard calls for specific bodily features like short, turned-up noses and wide-set eyes as well as long, deep bodies that show good growth without excessive inputs.

Purchase Policies
All purchases of live animals require on-farm pick up. We do not arrange shipment - buyers may do so at their own risk. We encourage buyers to personally verify the health and quality of our pigs before they leave our farm. Departure from the premises completes the purchase and officially transfers full responsibility for the animal to the buyer. A receipt of sales will be provided, and registration paperwork will be completed at purchase (when applicable.)
Who We Are
Our Start in Idaho Pasture Pigs
Like many people in recent years, Charles found himself drawn to the idea of raising the food he and his family needed. It began with pork and he started with the smallest pig available - the potbelly. It didn't take long to recognize that the breed wasn't a fit, so he began exploring other options.
The KuneKune was popular among small homesteaders at the time, and he gave them a try. As wonderful as they were in temperament and flavor, he still wasn't satisfied. There had to be a pig that ticked all the boxes for him!
Finding the Idaho Pasture Pig finally did just that. He and his wife, Lisa, began working to build a solid herd of registered pigs and start producing the impeccable, deep red pork they loved. Now they produce feeders and breeders for other homesteads to enjoy the process of raising their own meat too.
